Freepik Alternatives in 2026: Stock, AI and Vector Options Now Freepik Is Magnific

The main Freepik alternatives in 2026 are Envato Elements for unlimited stock downloads from $8.99 a month, Canva for templates and stock inside an editor, Krea for AI image and video generation with a free daily allowance, Recraft for vector graphics, and Picsart for editing with AI models.

The short version

Freepik has become Magnific, an AI platform with the stock library attached. Stock-only users save with Envato's unlimited downloads from $8.99 a month. AI-only users should look at Krea. Recraft suits vectors, but only paid plans give you ownership. If you use both stock and AI weekly, staying is usually cheapest.

Want this decided for your own case? Find your tools with Smart Match, starting from this guide's question.

Freepik.com now redirects to magnific.com, and the new homepage says it plainly: "Freepik is now Magnific." Same team, same 250 million-plus stock files, rebuilt around 40-plus AI models and a single credit balance.

That rename is why many long-time users are looking around. People who joined Freepik for vectors, icons and stock photos now land on an AI generation platform first. If you mainly download assets, you may be paying for credits you never spend. If you mainly generate, the field of credit-based AI suites has grown crowded and cheaper.

What Freepik (now Magnific) does, and what it costs

Freepik, now Magnific, sells one subscription that covers two things: a stock library of photos, vectors, icons, video, templates, mockups and fonts, and AI tools for images, video, audio and 3D, including the Magnific upscaler.

Its homepage says existing magnific.ai users keep the original upscaling service until their plan expires, and that magnific.com is the full platform, the same upscaler plus the model catalogue.

Our pricing page read served euros. Plans are billed annually at the lower price:

PlanMonthlyAnnual (per month)Credits a year
Premium€15€10.50240,000
Premium+€34€25.50600,000 + unlimited generations
Pro Starter€83€62.251.5 million

For a US reader, €15 was about $16.78 on 27 October 2026 at the mid-market rate, an estimate rather than a list price.

Three details on that page matter for the comparison. Credits are valid for a year with no monthly reset. Every paid plan carries a commercial AI licence. And Magnific promises no model training on customer data.

How to choose a Freepik alternative

First decide what you actually used Freepik for. Five questions sort it:

  1. Stock or AI? Count last month's downloads against last month's generations. Most people are clearly one or the other.
  2. What file types? Vectors and icons narrow the list sharply. Video templates narrow it differently.
  3. Do you need unlimited downloads? Some alternatives meter stock; some do not.
  4. Which models do you rely on? Many suites resell the same third-party models, so the model list often matters less than the price per credit.
  5. Who owns the output? Free plans on several AI tools keep ownership or publish your images. Read the rights line before you commit work to a tool.

If your use is mixed, a short description of your work in Smart Match will shortlist from the directory.

The shortlist: five Freepik alternatives

Every price here comes from the vendor's site as it stood on 28 October 2026.

KreaCheap AI generation, many models$5/mo (discounted)100 units a day
RecraftVectors and brand graphicsNot readYes, Recraft owns output
PicsartEditing plus AI models$10.50/mo yearlyYes

How we would pick:

  • You used Freepik for stock files: Envato. Unlimited downloads from 30 million-plus assets start at $8.99 a month, with a lifetime commercial licence.
  • You used it for social posts and templates: Canva, where stock sits inside the editor.
  • You used it for AI images and video: Krea, which costs less at the entry level and has a usable free tier.
  • You used it for vectors and icons: Recraft, which is built around vector output.

Envato: the stock-first replacement

We have no HokAI record for Envato yet. Everything below comes from its pricing page. Envato Elements prices in US dollars:

  • Core, from $8.99 a month: unlimited downloads of 30 million-plus assets, from stock video and photos to fonts, 3D and design templates, plus 20 AI credits a month.
  • Plus, from $39 a month: 200 AI credits for images, video, voiceovers, music and graphics, with three parallel generations.
  • Ultimate, from $168 a month: 1,000 AI credits and ten parallel generations.

Every plan includes a lifetime commercial licence for stock assets and AI generations. Students get 30% off Core, and a fair-use policy applies to downloads. Its AI tools run on familiar third-party models, including GPT Image 2, Flux 3, Nano Banana 2, Seedance 2.0 and ElevenLabs voices, so the AI half of Envato is not a weaker in-house substitute.

Envato's templates cover Adobe apps, Canva, Affinity, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro and Blender. If your Freepik habit was downloading a PSD mockup or a video template, Core is the closest like-for-like swap, and cheaper than Magnific's Premium.

Canva: stock and templates inside the editor

Canva solves the problem differently. Instead of downloading assets into another app, you use them where you design.

Its free plan already includes 1.6 million-plus templates and 4.7 million-plus photos, videos, graphics and audio files, with up to 20 AI uses. Pro raises that to 3.6 million-plus templates and 141 million-plus premium assets, and adds a background remover and ten times the AI usage.

Two newer pieces matter for former Freepik users. Every Canva plan, including Free, now lists access to Affinity, the professional design app, so vector work no longer forces you into a separate subscription. And heavy AI users can buy an AI Pass add-on on top of Pro or Business, which keeps the base plan cheap for people who mostly use templates and stock rather than generation.

Canva prices by country. The page we were served showed rupiah, so we are not quoting a US price; check yours on Canva's site.

Canva also absorbs remove.bg's background remover when that site closes on 1 December 2026, which we covered in our AI product photography guide.

Krea: the cheaper AI-generation hub

Krea is the closest match for people who used Freepik mainly to generate. Its free plan gives 100 compute units a day, enough to test the main image models.

Its paid plans were shown at a discount when we read them:

PlanList pricePrice shownKrea's own example
Basic$9/mo$5/moAbout 15 Seedance 2.0 Fast videos
Pro$35/mo$21/moAbout 65 Seedance 2.5 videos
Max$105/mo$63/moLarger unit packs

The Pro example uses Seedance 2.5. Seedance models also appear on Magnific's own model list.

Krea's plan features include a commercial licence, unlimited relaxed generations on its in-house image models after your units run out, LoRA training to teach it your style, and a node editor. That last pair is what Freepik never offered.

Recraft: vectors and brand assets

Recraft is the pick for anyone who used Freepik's vector library to build logos, icons and illustrations. It generates and edits vector images directly, and its API covers vector generation, background removal, inpainting and batch jobs.

We could not read Recraft's plan prices: the page loads them with scripts our reader could not run. Its FAQ was readable, and it carries the most important rule in this guide:

  • Free plan images are owned by Recraft, appear in its public community gallery and are not licensed for commercial use.
  • Paid plan images are yours, with full commercial rights, and stay private and owned by you even after you cancel.
  • Subscription credits reset every billing cycle, while top-up credits never expire.

Never build a client's logo on a free tier. Our AI logo design guide covers the dedicated logo tools.

Picsart: editing first, AI second

Picsart has a free tier too. Its Pro plan is $15 monthly or $10.50 a month on annual billing, with background and object removal, bulk editing of 50 images and millions of stock photos and Getty video clips.

The team tier, Ultra, is $75 per seat monthly ($60 on annual billing), adding 200-plus AI models, bulk edits of 100 images and ad-variation tools. Picsart also lets you use it from Claude Code, Cursor and ChatGPT through an MCP connector, a feature aimed at teams automating content.

For a Freepik user who mostly edited downloaded assets, Picsart Pro is the most rounded single replacement.

Which tool replaces which Freepik feature

Freepik bundles a lot. If you only miss one part of it, replace that part and nothing else.

Freepik featureBest replacementWhy
Stock photos and videoEnvato CoreUnlimited downloads
Vectors and iconsRecraftNative vector output
PSD mockups and templatesEnvato CoreTemplates for Adobe, Canva, Affinity
AI imagesKreaFree daily units
AI videoKrea or PicsartSame third-party models
Image upscalingPixelcutTopaz models, up to 16x
Background removalPhotoroomUnlimited on entry plan

Two of those deserve a line each. For background removal, Photoroom includes it on every plan, and our product photography guide compares it with Pixelcut in detail. For upscaling, see the next section.

Upscaling without Magnific

Magnific began as an upscaling service, magnific.ai, according to its homepage, and the upscaler is still included in every paid plan. It is not the only option.

  • Pixelcut offers upscaling up to 16x and lets you choose among models including Topaz, with unlimited upscales on its Pro plan.
  • Krea's toolbar includes an enhancer, so an AI-first user can keep generation and upscaling in one app.
  • For video rather than stills, Topaz Video AI renders locally on Mac and Windows, and HitPaw VikPea and AVCLabs are cheaper desktop enhancers.

An upscaler that invents detail is not the same as one that recovers it. Test on a face and on fine text before trusting any of them with client work, because those are where invented detail shows first.

What each alternative costs for a typical month

Here is the entry plan most Freepik users would actually need, by job.

Your main usePickPlanMonthly cost
Stock downloadsEnvatoCoreFrom $8.99
AI images, light useKreaBasic (discounted)$5
AI images and videoKreaPro (discounted)$21
Editing plus stockPicsartPro, yearly$10.50
Staying putMagnificPremium, annual€10.50

The pattern is simple, and it surprised us: for most people the cheapest move is not a new all-in-one suite but a split, one cheap tool for the half of Freepik they actually use and nothing for the half they never touched. A stock-only user saves by moving to Envato. A heavy AI user may not save at all, because Magnific's Premium+ includes unlimited generations, which most rivals reserve for slower "relaxed" queues or do not offer.

Free tiers compared

Many Freepik users only ever used the free side. Here is what each alternative gives you without paying.

ToolFree allowanceCatch
Canva1.6M+ templates, 4.7M+ assetsUp to 20 AI uses
Krea100 compute units a dayDaily cap
RecraftFree generationsRecraft owns them, publicly shown
PicsartFree accountFewer tools than Pro
EnvatoNone listedPaid plans only

For an occasional social post, Canva's free plan is the most generous by far, because the templates and stock sit in the same editor you post from. For occasional AI images, Krea's daily units refill every day, which beats a one-time trial credit. Recraft's free tier is fine for experiments, and only for experiments, since anything you make on it belongs to Recraft and appears in its public gallery.

For teams and agencies: seats, sharing and indemnity

A solo designer and a ten-person agency should not pick the same replacement, because the plans diverge sharply once more than one person logs in.

  • Envato sells team plans with shared access and management at up to 34% off individual prices, and an Enterprise tier for organisations of more than 50 people with custom seats, custom licensing and tailored indemnification.
  • Magnific has separate Individual and Teams pricing on the same page, and its pitch for teams is shared Spaces, a canvas built for collaborative workflows.
  • Picsart prices Ultra per seat and lets you add team seats, with 300 GB of storage per seat.
  • Recraft shares top-up credits across all seats in a Teams workspace, while subscription credits still reset each cycle.

If clients will ask who carries the risk for a stock image or a generated one, indemnification is the line to compare. Only Envato's Enterprise tier names it on the pricing page we read.

Using these tools from code and AI agents

This is new, and it changes the comparison for technical teams. Several of these platforms now expect to be driven by software, not only by a person in a browser.

  • Magnific lists an API with credit-based usage, an MCP server, plugins and a ComfyUI integration on its pricing page.
  • Picsart offers a CLI for generating content from a terminal and an MCP connector for use inside Claude Code, Cursor and ChatGPT.
  • Recraft documents an API for image and vector generation, background removal, inpainting, outpainting and batch jobs.
  • Envato is the odd one out: its pricing page focuses on downloads and in-app AI rather than an API.

For a developer generating hundreds of assets in a pipeline, that list matters more than any monthly price. Our guide to AI agent builders covers the tools that orchestrate this kind of work.

Rights, data and who owns your files

Licences decide whether a file is usable. Check three things.

  • Commercial licence on generated images. Magnific, Envato, Krea and Recraft's paid plans all state one on their pricing pages.
  • Ownership on free tiers. Recraft is explicit that it owns free-plan images and shows them publicly. Assume nothing about other free tiers until you read them.
  • Training on your uploads. Magnific states it does not train on your data. The other pricing pages we read did not say either way.

For agencies, Envato's Enterprise plan advertises custom licensing and tailored indemnification. That is the relevant line for client work at scale, and it is a sales conversation, not a checkbox.

The case for staying with Freepik

There is a strong argument for not switching, and it is mostly about the rename being cosmetic.

Your subscription keeps working. Nothing breaks. The 250 million-plus stock library is still there. Magnific's annual credits do not reset each month, which suits lumpy workloads better than the monthly resets at Recraft and most AI tools. Premium+ includes unlimited generations. And the Magnific upscaler, which many people paid for separately, is now part of the same plan.

If you use both stock and AI every week, you would need two replacements, Envato for files and Krea or Picsart for generation, and the combined cost would not be lower.

Our answer: stay if you use both halves. Switch if you only use one, because Envato beats it on stock price and Krea beats it on entry-level AI price.

How to migrate without losing files

Moving? Go in this order:

  1. Export or download any generated images you want to keep, including their prompts.
  2. Record the licence details of stock files already in client work, since the download history is your proof of licence.
  3. Spend your remaining annual credits before the renewal date.
  4. Start the replacement's free tier or trial and rebuild one real project in it.
  5. Cancel only after that project ships, and keep a note of the date, because Magnific says its credits are valid for one year, and whatever is left when that year ends is simply gone, which is easy to forget in the middle of rebuilding a workflow somewhere else.

Other tools worth a look

  • Ideogram is strong at readable text inside images, useful for posters and social graphics.
  • Leonardo AI suits game and concept art, with its own model family.
  • Elyum runs 84-plus image, video and audio models on one credit balance, like Magnific without the stock library.
  • AnyVids bundles Seedance, Veo and Kling behind a shared credit wallet.
  • SeeGen AI turns prompts or reference files into video and images across five model families.
  • Loova AI adds an agent-style canvas on top of a similar model bundle.
  • FLUX, the model family behind several of these tools, can be used directly.

For the bigger picture, see our roundup of AI image generators, our AI graphic design guide, and the AI image generator directory. Video-first users should also read our Viggle alternatives guide.

What would change these picks

  • Magnific splits stock and AI into separate plans. A stock-only tier near Envato's price would remove the main reason to leave.
  • Envato drops unlimited downloads. Its case rests on them; a cap would make Magnific's bundle better value.
  • Krea's discount ends. Our entry-level AI pick assumes the discounted price we read; at full list price the gap with Magnific narrows.
  • Recraft opens free-tier ownership. That would make it the obvious free vector tool.

We will re-read every plan here in January 2027, once the Magnific rename has had a full renewal cycle to settle.

Frequently asked questions

Is Freepik now called Magnific?

Yes. Freepik.com redirects to magnific.com, and the homepage says Freepik is now Magnific, with the same team and technology. The 250 million-plus stock library is still included, alongside more than 40 AI models and the Magnific upscaler.

What is the best alternative to Freepik for stock files?

Envato Elements is the closest stock-first replacement. Its Core plan, from $8.99 a month, includes unlimited downloads from more than 30 million assets and a lifetime commercial licence.

Is there a free Freepik alternative?

Canva's free plan includes 1.6 million-plus templates and 4.7 million-plus photos, videos, graphics and audio files. Krea's free plan gives 100 compute units a day for AI generation. Recraft is free too, but Recraft owns images made on its free plan and they are not licensed for commercial use.

Is Freepik worth it in 2026?

It is worth it if you use both its stock library and its AI tools every week, because replacing both would take two subscriptions. Its annual credits do not reset monthly, and Premium+ includes unlimited generations. If you only use one half, Envato or Krea is likely cheaper.

Can I use Freepik alternatives for commercial work?

Paid plans at Magnific, Envato, Krea and Recraft all state a commercial licence on their pricing pages. Free tiers vary: Recraft keeps ownership of free-plan images, so read each tool's rights line before using output for clients.
