Magnific is the AI creative platform formerly called Freepik, renamed in April 2026 and used by more than 1 million paying subscribers. It brings image, video, audio and 3D generation from 40+ models, Magnific upscaling and a 250M-asset stock library into one credit-based workspace with team canvases, desktop apps and an MCP server.

About Magnific

Magnific is the platform that was called Freepik until April 2026. Freepik launched in 2010 in Málaga, Spain, founded by Alejandro Sánchez, Pablo Blanes and Joaquín Cuenca, who is now CEO. It began as a search engine for graphic resources, took a majority investment from EQT in 2020, and bought the AI upscaler Magnific in May 2024. In April 2026 the company told Fortune it had reached $230 million in annual recurring revenue with no venture funding, roughly half of it from video, and said it was renaming itself Magnific. The platform now lives at magnific.com with 1M+ paid subscribers, and the original upscaler at magnific.ai serves existing subscribers only.

What you get is one account that reaches image, video, audio and 3D tools without separate subscriptions. Models from Google, ByteDance, Black Forest Labs, Kuaishou Technology and OpenAI sit beside the in-house Magnific One image model, so FLUX.2, GPT Image 2 and Kling 3.0 are a menu choice inside the same tool rather than a separate login. Work happens either in single tools such as the generator, editor, upscaler and background remover, or in Spaces, a node-based canvas where a team wires models into repeatable workflows and saves them as one-click Apps. The same tools are reachable from Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor through an MCP server, and from Photoshop and Figma through plugins.

It fits people who produce visual content for a living: marketers building campaign sets, designers who want licensed stock and generation under one commercial license, agencies that need shared credits and roles, and video makers who want several video models side by side. Against Midjourney it trades a single distinctive look for breadth, against Adobe Firefly it trades Creative Cloud integration for a wider model list, and against Canva it leans toward generation over templates. For photo upscaling alone, a desktop tool such as Topaz Photo AI avoids the credit meter, while Krea and Higgsfield overlap on browser-based image and video generation. Billing is credit based, and the unit cost is the part to understand before paying. Annual-plan credits last the full year, so a quiet month does not forfeit them, but each model burns credits at a different rate: a 2K Magnific One image costs a small fraction of one Seedance video clip. Unlimited generation on the upper plans covers most image models, not video, audio or editing, and anything run through the MCP server still spends credits. Cost per finished asset, not cost per month, is the honest way to compare it with a flat-rate rival.

Two caveats shape the verdict. Review scores differ by source, and the price shown to you depends on your location and changes often, so confirm the plan at checkout. On trust, the vendor states it never trains on customer data and publishes its certifications on a public trust center.

Credits per year: 240,000 on Premium, 600,000 on Premium+, 1,500,000 on Pro Starter and 4,000,000 on the larger Pro tier.

Business is per seat with a shared pool for 2 to 100 users, and Enterprise is quoted. Extra credit packs need Premium+ or Pro and expire after 3 years. VAT is added, and promotions on the Premium annual rate have changed within weeks.
