Is Seedance 2.0 Free? Where You Can Actually Use It in 2026

ByteDance shipped Seedance 2.0 in February 2026, and when it reached the US on 7 April, CapCut's offer to every American user was exactly one free try.

That single try is the honest core of every "seedance 2.0 free" search. The model is free to sample in several places and free to use at volume in none of them. For a creator or a small marketing team trying to decide whether to build a workflow on Seedance 2.5, the gap between those two statements is the whole decision, and most of the pages ranking for this query blur it.

This piece sets out where the free access actually is, what each route withholds, and what a clip costs once the free part ends. Every price below was read from the vendor's own page on 26 September 2026 unless the sentence says otherwise.

What changed: one free trial became a credits economy

Seedance started as a ByteDance research model. It now sits behind at least four kinds of door: ByteDance's own consumer apps, ByteDance's developer cloud, third-party studios that resell it, and a crowd of lookalike sites that borrow the name.

The consumer door changed shape twice this year. In April the pitch was a single free trial per person. By September, Dreamina's own Seedance 2.0 page says you can try the model "using free daily credits", then pay once they run out. Dreamina does not publish how many credits a free account receives each day.

Three things are now true at once:

• Free access exists, on ByteDance's own products, and it is small.
• Watermark-free downloads are a paid feature on Dreamina, from its Basic plan up.
• The newer Seedance 2.5 reached CapCut as a subscriber feature, not a free one.

The timeline, from Southeast Asia to the US

The rollout was staggered by region, which is why answers on forums contradict each other. A user in Jakarta and a user in Ohio were looking at different products on the same day.

According to CapCut's April newsroom post, the first wave covered Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brazil and Mexico. Clips were capped at 15 seconds in six aspect ratios, and making video from images of real faces was restricted at launch.

The legal backdrop matters for the free question too. The Wikipedia entry on Seedance 2.0 records the Motion Picture Association's objection, the Disney letter and the senators' demand. A model under that kind of pressure is one whose free terms can change at short notice.

Where Seedance 2.0 is free today, and the catch in each

Here is every route we could confirm on a primary page. "Free" means you can generate at least one clip without paying.

The first row is the one most people want. The Seedance 2.0 page on Dreamina answers its own FAQ with a flat yes on free use, then lists "Remove the Dreamina watermark in downloads" as a benefit of paid plans only. So the free clip is real, and it is branded.

The 2.5 offer is narrower. Dreamina's Seedance 2.5 pricing page, dated 23 September, promises "4 free Seedance 2.5 generations" at 720p, queue-free, for three days. A second page on free 2.5 access is more careful: it says Dreamina "may provide free trial credits for eligible users" and that amounts vary. Read that as a promotion, not a plan.

The third-party studios are the other half of the map. Krea runs the model alongside several rivals, and its pricing FAQ says the free plan "includes a daily compute allowance that refills every day". SeeGen AI offers "trial credits" and then bills per second. Neither publishes the size of the free allowance on its pricing page, so neither can promise you a specific number of Seedance clips.

The developer route is less free than it looks

BytePlus, ByteDance's international cloud, lists both Dreamina-Seedance-2.0 and Dreamina-Seedance-2.5 in its ModelArk model catalogue. Its ModelArk product page advertises "Up to 2M free tokens per model", and 2,000,000 free tokens for every vision model.

Look at which models the free-token panel actually names, though. When we read it, the list covered ByteDance-Seedance-1.5-pro, 1.0-pro and 1.0-pro-fast. The 2.x models appear in the catalogue but not in that free list. We could not open the ModelArk documentation that would settle it, because those pages render only in a signed-in browser. So the honest answer for developers is: free tokens for the older Seedance models are published, and free tokens for 2.0 and 2.5 are not.

Seedance's own model page points visitors to two places to try 2.5: Dola's chat and the BytePlus playground. It says nothing about price. Our Seedance 2.5 record leaves per-token pricing blank for the same reason: BytePlus's console returned no extractable rate.

What it costs once the free credits run out

The paid side is where the numbers become comparable. The table uses each vendor's own unit, because they do not share one.

Dreamina's own arithmetic puts a 30-second Seedance 2.5 clip at $2.91 on that annual Advanced rate. At SeeGen's 1080p rate the same 30 seconds of 2.5 comes to $18. That spread is the single most useful number on this page. Resolution, not the model name, drives most of it.

Kinovi is worth a note. Its live pricing page now sells a Starter pack of 2,150 credits for $9.99, which is cheaper and smaller than the pack HokAI recorded in August. Its credits work in both the web studio and its REST API, and the model IDs it exposes include seedance-20 and seedance2-fast.

Higgsfield bundles several video models on one credit plan. When HokAI last checked higgsfield.ai/pricing on 24 September, the Basic plan cost $9 a month for 120 credits and named Seedance 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini, and a 5-second 4K Seedance 2.0 clip cost about 110 credits. That is roughly one high-resolution clip a month on the entry plan. The free Higgsfield account covers "a limited set of models" and publishes no monthly allowance.

The app's own plans are priced by region. From our connection the page quoted Indonesian rupiah, so we do not quote a dollar figure for them. The credit allowances were readable: Basic carries 2,796 credits a month, Standard 6,854, Advanced 31,291 and Ultra 104,896.

Who this hits: US users and anyone chasing 2.5

The free story is uneven, and it lands hardest on two groups.

US users got Seedance 2.0 last. When the 2.5 rollout was announced on 31 July, CapCut's newsroom post on Seedance 2.5 said it would reach "subscriber accounts belonging to people over 16 years old across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South America". North America is not on that list. A US creator who wants 2.5's 30-second clips and 50-reference inputs today reaches them through Dreamina's web product or a reseller, not through a free CapCut account.

Teenagers are the second group. The 2.5 announcement sets an over-16 floor. Any site offering Seedance to younger users without an account check is not operating under ByteDance's published terms.

Who it helps: creators outside the US who already pay for CapCut. For them 2.5 arrived inside a subscription they had, with timestamp-level editing and clips up to 30 seconds.

Your data and your face: what the free tiers ask of you

Free generation still costs something. On Dreamina it costs an account: every "Try now" button on the Seedance pages routes to a sign-in. On the resellers it costs a sign-up.

The safeguards are the other data angle. CapCut says Seedance output carries invisible watermarks, visible AI labels and C2PA Content Credentials, and that it blocks unauthorised use of a person's likeness. Two practical consequences follow:

• A free Dreamina download is marked twice, once visibly and once in the file's metadata.
• Uploading a photo of a real person may be refused, by design, on ByteDance's own products; CapCut restricted real-face inputs at the 2.0 launch.
• A site that promises no watermark and no face restrictions for free is, at minimum, not running ByteDance's shipped configuration.

The APK and "unlimited" sites: what to do instead

Autocomplete for this query offers "seedance 2.0 free apk" and "seedance 2.0 free unlimited". Neither appears on any ByteDance or CapCut page we read for this piece. ByteDance's own Seedance page links to exactly two try-it destinations, and CapCut's announcements name its own app, desktop and web products plus Dreamina and Pippit.

Some of the domains ranking for "seedance free" carry the model's name in the domain itself while belonging to nobody at ByteDance. Some are honest resellers. Some are not. The name in the URL tells you nothing either way.

Here is how to try the model for free without that risk:

1. Start on Dreamina or CapCut, signed in with an account you already use.
2. Generate at 720p, which every host with a published rate bills below 1080p.
3. Keep the first clip to 5 to 10 seconds, since cost scales with length.
4. Buy the smallest one-time pack before any subscription; Kinovi's credits never expire.
5. Skip any APK from outside the official app stores that claims to be Seedance.

That last step deserves its reason. ByteDance's own Seedance page lists no standalone app, only Dola's chat and the BytePlus playground, so a download promising the model outside those routes is at best a wrapper around someone else's paid account and at worst malware. SeeGen's packs are a safer fallback than any of them.

Other resellers also run the model. Anyvids bundles several models behind one wallet, and HokAI's listing records a free tier with watermarked, personal-use outputs. Pexo lists Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 among the engines its video agent picks from. Loova AI licenses Seedance 2.5 inside a paid workspace with no free plan. None of them changes the basic math: the free portion is a sample.

How to judge a free video tier before you spend an hour on it

A free tier is a sales tool, and the useful question is what it lets you learn. Four tests separate a sample that answers your question from one that wastes an afternoon.

• Does the free output match the resolution you will publish at?
• Where does the watermark sit? A corner mark is fine for judging motion.
• Does the allowance refill daily, or is it a one-time grant?
• Can you carry the prompt and settings to a paid host?

A 720p sample tells you little about a 1080p deliverable, and a centred watermark hides exactly the detail you are judging. Run those four against the table above and the choice usually makes itself. For most readers the daily-refill route wins for learning the model, and a one-time credit pack wins for the first real deliverable, because it costs less than a month of any subscription we found. The case against paying for Seedance at all

The strongest objection to everything above is simple. Why chase Seedance's free credits when rival models give more away?

It is a fair challenge. Kling and its Kling 3.0 model run on most of the same resellers, and Higgsfield prices a 5-second 720p Kling clip at about 7 credits against roughly 110 for 4K Seedance. Wan 3.0 is cheaper still per second on SeeGen's own table. Our answer is that the objection holds for short, single-shot clips and fails for two jobs.

Seedance 2.5 takes up to 50 multimodal references per clip and generates clips of up to 30 seconds, according to CapCut's July post. If your work depends on keeping a character consistent across references, or on a single long take, the free Seedance sample is the right place to test before paying. Where the viral templates fit in

A template is also the cheapest way to spend a free try well.

CapCut offers Seedance inside its editor and its Video Studio, according to its April post. Test the prompt somewhere cheap first and spend the single free trial on a version you already know works. Viggle and Shorz sit nearby for motion and short-form jobs if the template route is all you need. What would change this, and what to watch next

Three events would change the answer above, and each can be checked.

• A published free-token line for 2.x on BytePlus. If ModelArk's free list adds Dreamina-Seedance-2.0 or 2.5, developers get a real free tier, and this piece's developer section flips.
• A US date for 2.5 on CapCut. The 31 July post named four regions. A US rollout would likely arrive with another one-free-trial offer, as 2.0's did.
• The end of Dreamina's discount window on 9 October. If the per-second rates rise after that date, the gap to SeeGen and Kinovi narrows and the reseller route looks better.
