Meshy reports more than 12 million registered users on its AI 3D platform, which converts text, single images and multi-image sets into textured meshes. It rigs and animates characters, prepares print-ready files, and runs through a web app, mobile apps, an API and an MCP server for AI agents.
About Meshy
Meshy is a 3D generation platform from Meshy LLC, a Silicon Valley company founded by MIT PhD Ethan Hu. On 21 July 2026 it announced a Series B of nearly $400 million at a $1.5 billion valuation, which the company described as the largest round to date for a business built specifically around AI 3D. The product takes a text prompt, a photo or a set of views and returns a textured model, produced by Meshy's own hosted models. Meshy says it has more than 12 million registered users, a figure from its own announcements that has not been independently audited.
Generation runs on a family of models that the API exposes by name: meshy-7.1 as the latest alias, meshy-6, a cheaper meshy-6-lite, and meshy-t2, a Smart Topology model aimed at cleaner meshes with separated parts. A typical job starts as a mesh, adds PBR textures, and can continue into remeshing, rigging and animation in the same account. Meshy also sells text-to-image and image-to-image steps that make multi-view references for 3D work, which overlaps with the AI image generators category. Text to 3D is a two-step flow in the API, a preview mesh first and a separate texture refine second, so you can reject a bad shape before paying for textures.
Meshy lists Nexon, NetEase Games and 37 Interactive Entertainment among the game companies using it, and 3D printing brands such as Bambu Lab, Creality, Elegoo and FlashForge among its users. For agent workflows it publishes an open-source MCP server that Claude Code, Cursor and Windsurf can call, so a prompt typed in a coding agent can return a finished asset. Claude Desktop is a supported client too, while ChatGPT reaches Meshy through an app directory entry instead. If you are choosing which agent to run it from, Cursor Composer 2 vs Claude Code compares two of them.
Among 3D generators, the closest hosted rivals are Tripo and Rodin. Tencent publishes the open-weight option, Hunyuan 3D, and Spline targets interactive scenes rather than mesh generation. Meshy leans on breadth: apps for web, iOS and Android, plugins for engines and slicers, and an API on its Pro plan and above. Pricing
Free is $0. Starter is $10, Pro $20, Premium $40 and Studio $70 a month, with Enterprise on quote. Monthly credits rise from 250 on Starter to 5,500 on Studio, and Free carries a smaller allowance.
These USD list prices were read on 13 October 2026 by switching the pricing page's currency selector from IDR to USD, because the page opened in IDR on the machine used. The yearly toggle showed the same list prices with a new-user discount, and a first-month offer appeared on Pro and Premium in monthly view; promotions are not stored here. The API runs on prepaid credits bought from subscription settings, per Meshy's API docs.

Key Features
- Text, image and multi-image to 3D: Builds a mesh from a text prompt, a single image or a multi-image set, with optional 2K, 4K or 8K PBR textures on the latest model.
- Smart Topology model: meshy-t2 outputs triangle-only meshes with natively separated parts at a face count you set, up to 15,000 and defaulting to 4,000.
- Six export formats: The API writes GLB, OBJ, FBX, STL, USDZ and 3MF, with 3MF only when requested, and the web app also lists Blender files.
- Auto-rigging and animation: Rigs a character in one request and applies clips from an animation library of over 500 entries on paid plans.
- Printability tools: Printability analysis is free through the API, with repair, multi-colour and auto-split steps billed per request.
- MCP server and plugins: An open-source MCP server exposes 24 tools to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf, VS Code and Claude Desktop, and plugins cover Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine, Roblox Studio, 3ds Max and slicers such as Bambu Studio and OrcaSlicer.
- 3D Agent: A chat interface in the web app that builds a model from an idea, a photo or a sketch.
Pros
- G2's generated summary of 3,967 reviews lists ease of use and speed among the most-cited strengths, which is what reviewers report, not a HokAI test.
- Every paid plan lists assets as private and customer-owned, so paying removes the attribution duty that Free output carries.
- Its Drata trust center lists a SOC 2 Type 2 report, an ISO 27001:2022 certificate and GDPR documentation, which helps studios that run vendor security reviews.
- Projects made in the iOS and Android apps sync to the web app under the same account.
Cons
- Credit use depends on model and settings: the pricing page caps Pro at up to 100 assets for 1,000 credits, but the API reference prices a textured image-to-3D model on the latest model at 30 credits, so read the estimate before a batch.
- Smart Topology output (meshy-t2) is triangles only, so quad-dominant meshes need a standard model with the quad option instead.
- Meshy's own pages disagree on Studio: the pricing page lists 14 days of asset retention and 60 concurrent tasks, while the API docs cap retention at 3 days for non-Enterprise accounts and show a much lower queue-task limit.
- Assets made through the MCP server belong to the API account, not the web workspace, and download URLs expire, so save results you want to keep.
- G2's summary also counts 673 mentions of 3D modeling issues and 275 of poor rendering quality, so expect to check geometry before production use.
Data Handling
- Training-data policy
- Meshy's pricing FAQ says it will not share data or use it for training without consent. Web app data is stored on Amazon Web Services in the United States.
- Compliance
- SOC 2 Type 2 · ISO 27001:2022 · GDPR (Meshy Drata trust center)
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do you pay for Meshy?
Meshy lists Free at $0, Starter at $10, Pro at $20, Premium at $40 and Studio at $70 a month in USD, with Enterprise quoted by sales. Annual billing showed the same list prices plus a temporary new-user discount on 13 October 2026, so budget with the monthly figure. The API bills on top in prepaid credits: a textured meshy-7.1 image-to-3D model costs 30 credits and a mesh-only one costs 20, 8K textures cost 35, and the Ultra geometry option adds 5. Text to 3D is billed in two requests, 20 credits for the preview and a further 10 for a 2K or 4K texture refine.
What do you get on Meshy's free tier?
Free costs nothing, needs no card, and gives 100 credits a month for up to 10 generated assets, one task at a time at low priority. Downloads are capped at 10 Meshy 6 Lite models a month, and the output is licensed CC BY 4.0, so you may sell it but Meshy asks for credit in the listing. Image to 3D, text to 3D and AI texturing are included, while multi-view input, remesh, AI texture editing, text-to-image and API access are not.
What should you use instead of Meshy?
Tripo competes most directly as a hosted service, taking text, image and multiview input with auto-rigging and plugins. Rodin lets you preview a result before paying on its free plan, which suits occasional use better than a subscription. Tencent's Hunyuan 3D publishes open weights, so pick it if running models yourself matters. Spline does a different job: it builds interactive 3D scenes for the web instead of generating meshes.
Meshy or Tripo: which should you pick?
Both sell a Pro plan at the same monthly price, but their credits are not interchangeable, so compare cost per finished model on your own prompts instead of credit totals. Meshy's free tier allows commercial use with credit to Meshy, while Tripo's free plan keeps models public and non-commercial. Pick Tripo if regenerating one selected region through its Mesh Edit step matters; pick Meshy if you want a lower paid entry plan.
How long does it take to get going with Meshy?
Setup takes minutes: create a free account on the web app, or install the iOS app (iOS 16.4 or later) or the Android app, then upload a photo or type a prompt. Meshy's app page says most mesh generations finish in 20 to 30 seconds, after which you download the format your tool expects. API and MCP use need a Pro plan or above, with a key created in account settings.
Top Alternatives
- Tripo: Pick Tripo if you want to regenerate one selected region of a model through Mesh Edit; pick Meshy if a lower paid entry plan and a free tier you can use commercially with credit matter more.
- Rodin: Pick Rodin if you prefer paying only after previewing a result on its free plan; pick Meshy if you want API access without moving up to a $120 plan.
- Hunyuan 3D: Pick Hunyuan 3D if open weights under Apache 2.0 or local inference decide it; pick Meshy for a hosted app with mobile apps and plugins.
- Spline: Pick Spline to design interactive 3D scenes for the web; pick Meshy when you need generated meshes to export to a game engine or slicer.
