Smart Match vs. Manual Browsing
Smart Match and the Model Directory are two different ways to find tools. Knowing which one to use saves time.
Use Smart Match When
- You know what you need to accomplish but not which tools exist for it
- You want a ranked recommendation based on your specific context
- You're new to the AI tool landscape and want some guidance
- You want a written brief that explains why the tools were chosen
The flow is: describe your needs, answer a few follow-ups, get a ranked stack.
Use the Directory When
- You know the category (coding, marketing, image generation) and want to compare options
- You have specific filters in mind: free tier only, SOC 2 certified, API available
- You want to scan through a lot of tools quickly
- You already have candidates and want to look at them side by side
The flow is: set filters, browse cards, open profiles, add what you want to your stack.
Use Both Together
A common pattern is to run Smart Match first for a starting recommendation, then use the directory to explore alternatives or verify specific tools in more detail. Another is to browse the directory when you're exploring a category, then run Smart Match when you're ready to commit to a stack decision.
