Smart Match for Developers
Developers use AI across a range of tasks: code completion, PR review, documentation, debugging, and building AI features into products. What you're trying to do determines what Smart Match recommends.
What to Include in Your Prompt
- The primary use case: coding assistant, code review, docs generation, debugging
- Your language or stack: "Python and React," "Go," "full-stack TypeScript"
- Whether you need API access (for building on top of the model)
- Your budget: free tier, a specific monthly number, or enterprise
Common Scenarios
IDE copilot. "Coding assistant for VS Code, Python and TypeScript, $15/month." Smart Match will prioritize IDE extensions with strong autocomplete and context awareness.
Code review automation. "AI for PR review and security scanning, team of 5." You'll get tools that integrate with GitHub or GitLab and flag issues before merge.
Documentation. "AI to generate docs and explain legacy code, solo dev, free preferred." Writing-focused tools with good code understanding.
Building AI into a product. "Need a model API for our SaaS — we'll call it from our backend, 2 developers." This signals API-first requirements. Smart Match will surface tools with clean APIs, documentation, and developer-friendly pricing.
The API Signal
If you need to embed AI in something you're building, say "API" or "API-first" explicitly. It's one of the strongest signals in the system. Without it, you might get front-end-focused tools when you need something you can call programmatically.
