Removing & Replacing Tools
Removing a Tool
Click the Remove button on any tool card in My Stack. A confirmation prompt appears. Confirm and it's gone. Removing a tool only affects your personal stack — it doesn't change anything in the directory.
When to Replace Rather Than Just Remove
If a tool isn't working for you, it's worth replacing it with something better rather than just removing it and leaving a gap. Common reasons to replace:
- Your needs have changed and the tool no longer fits
- A better option has become available
- The tool raised its prices past what you want to pay
- You found overlap with another tool you already have
How to Find a Replacement
Run a Smart Match session with specific context: "I currently use X for Y. It's not working well because Z. Find me something better." Add the replacement, then remove the old tool.
You can also browse the directory directly — filter by the same category as the tool you're replacing and compare the options.
See When to Replace a Tool for a fuller decision framework.
